Pre-existing conditions may not be covered

Pet insurance companies typically don’t fully cover pre-existing conditions, which are generally illnesses, injuries, or symptoms that occurred prior to the coverage date and/or any applicable waiting period. However, MetLife Pet may actually cover certain pre-existing conditions when switching providers. These include conditions that were covered by a previous insurance provider for group policyholders. Learn more about pre-existing conditions and reference your policy for full details.

1 For IAIC policies, optional Preventive Care coverage is based on a Schedule of Benefits. For MetGen policies, optional Preventive Care coverage is included in the annual limit

2 For policies issued by IAIC, coverage for these conditions is subject to a 6-month wait period. Please review your policy for complete details.

3 Covered only if related to an illness, injury, or medically necessary

4 Grief Counseling services are provided through an agreement with TELUS Health, an unaffiliated third-party service provider. Grief counseling services provided by TELUS Health are separate and apart from the insurance provided by MetLife. Not available to NY residents.

5 Covered only if recommended by a vet for illness, injury, or prevention

Examples are for illustrative purposes only. Please note that these examples do not include or account for any premium expense required to pay the pet policy. Actual premium rates may vary based on pet age breed, location, deductible, reimbursement rate, and annual limits you choose. Examples are based on covered expenses on a policy with a 90% reimbursement after meeting a $250 deductible. The pet policy issued by MetGen is the governing document with respect to all matters of insurance. The specific facts of each claim must be evaluated in conjunction with the provisions of the applicable Policy to determine coverage in each individual case.

7 Reimbursement options include: 70%, 80% and 90% and a 50% option for MetGen policies and a 65% option for IAIC policies only. Pet age restrictions may apply.

8 Deductible options range include: $0 – $750 in $50 increments and $1,000, $1,250, $1,500, $2,000 and $2,500.
