Is the Preventive Care Plan Worth It?

To help you decide if a Preventive Care plan is worth it, think about how often your pet needs routine care each year.  You could be reimbursed for many of those costs, as long as they're covered under the plan.  Plus, there's no better deciding factor than the peace of mind that you're able to keep your pet healthy — and potentially catch health issues before they become bigger.

MetLife Pet's Wellness Coverage Stands Out

At MetLife Pet Insurance, we understand the importance of truly comprehensive wellness coverage. Here’s how we set ourselves apart when compared to other providers:

Pet Parents Love Our Preventive Care

The best value for wellness and insurance

… I did a lot of research, and MetLife Pet offered the most benefits, including wellness. The best part, it was also the best value. They are quick to get to, easy to file a claim. They even include flea, tick, heartworm meds — all under one deductible. … It's really important to have coverage for your pets. They can't tell you when they are sick, and having this plan offers me ease of mind that I can take him to get checked without feeling I am going to break the bank! A few friends of mine have also signed up their dog[s] with Metlife Pet after my positive experience. May all our dogs live happy, healthy lives.

Great reviews and affordability

This is our first pet insurance ever. We decided to choose MetLife Pet because of great reviews and affordability compared to others. First of all, I think it’s important you get the “Preventive Care” add-on, as it covers the regular visits, vaccines, and routine (including dental and neutering). After that, make sure you download and register in the app. From there, submission of the documents and the whole process for claims is a breeze! … Thank you, MetLife Pet!

Wellness is worth it

MetLife Pet has been there for all three of our dogs, the best and worst of times. Their wellness insurance is worth it because it encourages us to keep our dog healthy and follow recommendations provided by our vet. Filing claims is easy, and if you call, the staff is friendly and helpful.

Preventive Care Plan FAQs

Our Preventive Care plan isn’t an insurance policy, but it can be added to our standard pet insurance policy to enhance your coverage for routine pet health expenses.1 Just like our pet insurance policies, you’re reimbursed at your chosen reimbursement rate for covered wellness expenses. It is also subject to your annual deductible and annual limit.

Follow the normal process to submit a claim for wellness expenses. Once we’ve received all of the necessary records and invoices, claims are typically processed within 2 weeks.

You can receive direct payments — through options like Zelle and Apple Pay — or a check in the mail for your reimbursements.

Standard pet insurance typically covers unexpected expenses related to diagnostics and treatment when your pet isn’t feeling their best. If your pet breaks a bone, catches a stomach bug, or needs cancer treatment, a standard pet insurance policy may provide coverage. For more information on our pet insurance coverage, download a sample policy.

On the other hand, certain pet expenses are related to keeping your pet healthy — aka routine, wellness, or preventive care. Teeth cleanings, vaccinations, and parasite prevention are some of these types of expenses, and they’re typically covered under our Preventive Care plan.1

Since this plan is an optional add-on, it’s an additional cost on top of your insurance premium. You can find out how much your customized coverage could cost by getting a free quote now in just a few minutes!
