The Family Plan: Pet Insurance for Multiple Pets

Our unique Family Plan covers multiple pets on a single policy, helping you more easily manage all of your pets’ insurance benefits.1

Looking for the best pet insurance for multiple pets? MetLife Pet is the only provider to offer a multiple pet insurance policy, or Family Plan, where you can cover up to three dogs and cats on one plan at a discounted rate — instead of needing individual policies for every pet.1,2,3

MetLife Pet also offers a multi-policy discount for enrolling more than one pet if you want to keep your fur family on separate, individual policies. This allows for greater customization, letting you choose from different coverage levels while saving you money on premiums.

How Does the MetLife Pet Insurance Family Plan Work?

You get the same coverage customization options as an individual policy, but your enrollment selections apply to all pets on the Family Plan as a whole. Let’s take a look at some of the specifics.

Shared Deductible

All pets on the plan count toward one deductible, so you could hit your deductible faster and start getting reimbursed sooner.1

Combine Cats & Dogs

Instead of managing multiple individual plans and coverage levels, group your dogs and cats together for simplicity and even more savings.

Flexible Coverage

A shared annual limit means if one pet needs more coverage, you can allocate more of the limit to them, while still protecting your other pets.1

Wth our Family Plan, the covered expenses of all pets on the policy can contribute to one deductible and one annual limit at a single reimbursement rate — all of which can be customized during enrollment. Once you’ve met the deductible, all covered expenses for each pet on the policy are eligible for reimbursement, at your selected rate, up to the annual limit.1

MetLife Pet Insurance Family Plan FAQs

If you have more than three pets, you can group them in two or more Family Plans through MetLife Pet.1 With other insurance providers, you have to purchase individual policies for each of your pets.2 For help figuring out how to group your pets in the most cost-efficient way, call our customer service and speak to a pet advocate.

Your pet insurance premium can vary based on a few major factors. The number of pets you enroll, their breeds and ages, where you live, their genders, and whether they have any pre-existing conditions can all impact the cost — as does your coverage selection.

MetLife Pet cat insurance policies start at $7 per month for one cat, and dog insurance policies start at $16 per month for one dog.6 Our Family Plan allows you to add more cats and dogs for an additional cost, while getting a special discounted rate.6

MetLife Pet Insurance’s Family Plan offers the same accident and illness coverage as our individual plans, but with a shared deductible, annual limit, and reimbursement rate.1 See our coverage and exclusions page for more details on what is and isn’t covered.

With MetLife Pet’s Family Plan, you can customize the deductible, annual limit, and reimbursement rate for the policy as a whole, but the policy covers all pets under it.1 If you want to have different coverage levels for each pet, you can enroll them in individual policies and still get a discount for purchasing multiple policies.4

For any pets that are on the same policy, you can file a claim for more than one pet at the same time — instead of needing to file separate claims for each pet. For any pets that aren’t on the same policy, you’ll need to submit separate claims.

We know researching pet insurance can be time-consuming. Our comparison pages let you easily see how MetLife Pet’s coverage and benefits compare to other providers you may be considering.
