Wintertime Pet Bathing

Wintertime bathing can be an important part of pet ownership.  In the summer, pet parents can bathe their pets outside, which can make both the washing and clean-up process a bit easier.  However, when it's too cool to give your pet a bath with the garden hose outside, you have to make a plan to bathe your pets indoors.

Tips for Bathing your Pet Indoors

Here are some tips to make the chore a little easier:

• Prepare your workspace before letting your dog know it's bath time. Have plenty of towels available to control wetness.
• Use a rubber mat at the bottom of the sink or tub to prevent your dog from slipping.
• Brush your dog's coat prior to getting them wet. This will remove any debris and prevent matting.
• A detachable shower nozzle that attaches to your faucet makes water flow easier to manage.
• Use a soap that is formulated for veterinary use. Using human shampoos or other cleansing soaps may irritate your pet's skin.
• Give your dog's eyes special attention after bath time. Take a warm, wet wash cloth and carefully wipe around his eyes to remove any soap that make have seeping in.
