MetLife Pet Insurance recently sponsored the celebration of an adoption at the Lexington Humane Society (LHS) in Lexington, Kentucky.

This was no ordinary adoption.

You see, after hoping for a place to call home since December 2019, Ginny, a five-year-old pit bull mix, got her wish. That’s right, this patient pup had been at the shelter for 1,000 days

According to the LHS, Ginny was harder to place than most, and her perfect home required a family without children or other animals.

Patience paid off, and on April 24, she was adopted into her fur-ever home with a dog lover who was an ideal fit for her needs.

To commemorate the long-awaited adoption, the shelter hosted a celebration so that everyone who met Ginny over the past three years or knew of her story could be a part of her adoption moment. The event was even streamed online for Ginny's social media supporters and fans.

“LHS was one of MetLife Pet Insurance’s first partnerships, and our organizations have been working together for 11 years,” said Brian Jorgensen, head of MetLife Pet Insurance. “An essential part of our mission is to help pets find and stay in a home that is right for them and we are pleased Ginny found hers.”

MetLife Pet Insurance collaborates with almost 1,000 shelters. The company provides support to these organizations in a number of ways, including sponsoring walks, adoption events, individual pet needs, and, like Ginny, long-stay residents.

When LHS reached out to MetLife Pet to share the good news about Ginny’s adoption, the company was eager to help celebrate, contributing funds for the celebration as well as dog toys for Ginny and party favors for guests.

Ginny and her new owner were presented with food, toys, treats and gift cards to help welcome them home as tokens of the shelter’s thanks and appreciation.
